A Blossom of Darphin: Hydraskin Essential, Wrinkle Corrective Eye Contour Cream, and Darphin Orange Blossom Aromatic Care

by in Beauty Archives

It’s cherry blossom time in the city and ‘burbs (where I feel I live) and despite my allergies rising to fever pitch, I can’t help loving the pinks in bloom.

Cherry Blossoms

Darphin, the French luxury skincare company, has unveiled some skincare treats that are sure to please any girl’s tastes. Move over, Stimulskin Plus Eye Cream: say bonjour to the latest member of the Darphin eyecare family: the Wrinkle Corrective Eye Contour Cream, which is as luxurious as it is cotton-light.

Let me be the first to tell you that I suffer genetically from dark circles. Despite the BEST products that others — much more raccoon-eyed that I — have used, I tend to look as though I’ve endured four rounds of a boxing match. Darphin’s cream has definitely lightened this tint, because the hylaluronic acid microspheres and light-reflecting particles, which have a Botox-like action. And of course, any undereye cream needs to make that area look soft and supple and ingredients like cotton oil, cocoa butter and shea butter help nourish. It retails for $75 at Darphin.com.

Another moisturizer has hit the town like a great Broadway show, and Darphin’s Hydraskin Essential is based on a duo of plant extracts to maintain the skin’s “water capital.” These include Salicornia Herbacea, which is a natural thirst quencher and Butterfly Lavender which acts like a shield to keep the water barrier from escaping.

When I put this moisturizer on, I will say that I expected it to go on light – and it did. There was no dewy, glowy, Brittany-Spears in an MTV video – like glow or residue, which is what I would expect from a moisturizer. It retails for $50 at Darphin.com.

And lastly, my favorite because I’m a perfume nut, is my favorite Orange Blossom Aromatic Care ($80): which is bottled essential oils and is as iconic to Darphin as Audrey Hepburn is to Givenchy. You’re supposed to apply this on your face at night, right after cleansing and before moisturizing. The aromas — especially the Orange Blossom — aim to play with the multi-receptor stimulating nature of the elixir.

You won’t be overly doused in the fragrance, and the Orange Blossom activates phychosomatic effects and also and rebalances the nervous system. In short, you feel as relaxed as lying down in a hammock and sipping a pina colada.

The best part of applying this beautiful conglomerate of scents is the inhalation process. Once you apply five drops to the face and neck, inhale the blend of jojoba, sunflower, sesame and safflower oils. It’s such a Zen and Ohm experience that you forget – if even for a moment – that you are in this noxious, grime-filled city and instead, magically carpeted to a state of orange sunshine.

I love Darphin prods, they always have the loveliest fragrances and the most luxe textures. My fave right now is the Aromatic Cleansing Balm w/Rosewood. If only it wasn’t $90!

I totally agree, the aromatic cleansing balm is extraordinary. I’m totally hooked onto the Darphin Orange Blossom Aromatic Care, particularly during stressful days.
