MAC Art Supplies Swatches: Channeling India, Greasepaint Style

by in Beauty Archives

Did we mention Greasepaint? The 24 piece collection is bursting with pencils and greasepaint sticks that is practically idiot proof. Yea, the MAC Cosmetics Art Supplies Collection to me, is standing in front of your mirror (your face is your easle, obviously), and your sticks are your paint brushes and paint pots.

Channelling India: MAC Art Supplies

Except for me, the collection screams India. The CoverGirl Lipstain style Pro Longwear Lipstain Markers ($16) are rich and come in such delightful colors from Stylesetter, A Classic, Purposefully Red (which I’m wearing) and Modern Mocha.

The pigments of the Pro Longwear Lipstains are really really rich. I’m talking “oil paint” and I am practically a  millionaire rich. The Longwear Lipstains are indeed drying, which is why I coated my lips with two swipes of Carmex Lipgloss to make them appear more dewy. But I was impressed at how long my Lipstains actually did stay on: for a full five hours, even though I went in and out of the city, kissed a napkin at Starbucks, downed a far too sweet Frappucino and met a friend (whom I almost kissed on both cheeks).

What I love about the MAC Art Supplies Collection:

Pearlglide Intense Liners: Here I am wearing Undercurrent (a bluish teal). Other colors include Almost Noir (a dirty plum), Designer Plum (iridiscent violet), Petrol Blue (a deep navy), Industrial (a periwinkle gray), and Black Line (a true black).

For me, these Pearlglide Intense Liners are really the star of the collection. Yea, I know everyone says the Greasepaint Sticks –which, don’t get me wrong, I totally love — but the Angel Gabriel of the set are the liners. Which brings me to why I think they’re perfect for “Channeling India.”

Indians love kohl. In fact, I think as a baby, my eyes were smeared in kohl even before I was given a bath. Kohl is so electrifying and the light of the eyes, and that coupled with the Greasepaint sticks makes the eyes come as alive as Lady Gaga onstage at MSG.

Here I am wearing the Greasepaint Stick in Charred Mauve (a shimmery blackish violet) and have layered MAC’s Spring Forecast 4 Eyeshadow in Manila Paper on it.

What do you think? Could you channel the Art Supplies? What masterpiece would you create?
