Last week, I attended a cool, fun and flirty event with 10 gorgeous Rimmel babes — the new Rimmel 10 Girls (most were teenager beauty bloggers, but each one talked about their passion for one of the 10 new products Rimmel London has launched this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand in the United States). In fact, it was absolutely NOT a Kate Moss love-fest, as I expected it to be. It was more a Sephora-esque display of new products, each complete with its own “Wheel of Fortune” or “Show and Tell” glam gal.
I was surprised to learn that Eugene Rimmel was the first man to invent the mascara (the word Rimmel still means mascara in several languages) out of coal dust mixed with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. Can you imagine wearing COAL DUST on your lashes now? Your lashes would stage a coup! But props to Eugene Rimmel for really bringing out way back when that women really long for in the 21st century: long lashes (and a sexy hunk).
The company is debuting 10 new products to celebrate its 10th U.S. Anniversary including the Max Volume Flash Mascara ($7.19), Glam Eyes Mono Eye Shadows ($3.49), Moisture Renew Lip Color ($6.79), Royal Gloss Delicious Lipgloss ($4.99), Lasting Finish Blendable Blush & Highlighter ($4.99), Sun Shimmer Maxi Bronzer for Face and Body ($7.99).
Here I am wearing the Max Volume Flash Mascara, Sun Shimmer Maxi Bronzer for Face and Body, Moisture Renew Lipcolor in Iced Coffee and two Glam Eyes Mono Eye Shadow in Glam Ice (white) and Posh Peacock.
I am officially obsessed with the mascara and lipstick. Like Li-Lo with her leggings (please kill me if I ever stoop so low), I may well wear these two items everywhere.
The Moisture Renew Lipcolor goes on beautifully and stays put and is deliciously moisturizing, not drying. An absolute MUST in this collection. The Royal Gloss is also jelly like and coats your lips with such a glorious shine, but is not tacky in the least.
The Max Volume Flash Mascara has a soft and bendable brush that evenly deposits the mascara on your lashes.
I absolutely adore the Sun Shimmer Maxi Bronzer for Face and Body, and our legging-obsessed Lindsay could well learn a thing or two from using this product. It has a rich pearl finish and a great shimmer and goes on beautifully on darker complexions as well (actually, I’d skip wearing a blush if I used this).
So, what more can I tell you lassies? There also is a Pro Longwear Nail Lacquer set (in so many skittles-esque colors) that I will swatch and post soon — as soon as my allergies let up. Damn those cherry blossoms and Easter lilies!!
I also love that these items are not Saks-expensive but still manage to have the quality of upscale. If you do manage to haul some of these gems, please post and let us know how you liked them. We really want to know!
