I cannot even begin to describe the wars I’ve had with acne. During my teenage years, I scrubbed, cleansed, over medicated my face with every product I could find on the drugstore aisle — from Clearasil to Stridex. I freaked out every time a zit protruded and felt I would rather endure a Burkah than face the world with walnut-sized imperfections.
Two weeks after using CosMedix, and my skin looks clearer and feels much more refined
And I’m sure, as most of you are familiar, the more I scrubbed and medicated, the worse my face became. My mother told me to expect this, as did my dermatologist. STOP PICKING. STOP FREAKING OUT. Everything is going to be fine, my mother said, and you just need to calm down a little.
My teenage instinct was to question everything that people said, including my mom’s wise word. Did I listen? Of course not. I kept scrubbing away, and she just kept raising her eyebrows and washed her hands off me like I were the plague. My acne got a bit better during my college years, but my wars with it still endure during my adult years.
Which brings me to CosMedix. Last week, I attended a presentation given by CosMedix, pioneers of chirally correct skincare. Now, what does this mean? Our skin apparently has left and right handed molecules, and ingredients that are exceptionally pure and safe are used in CosMedix so they can react with the molecules that positively interact with skin.
What all this science boils down to are: pure ingredients, and a HIGHER CONCENTRATION of ingredients in each bottle and jar. Chiral correction requires a lot of time and money during the R&D process. The result is a line with potent ingredients that are really beneficial to the skin.
Case in point: MY wretched skin. I started using CosMedix a few weeks as a total skeptic. I felt like a true New Yorker wearing two masks – that of a savvy shopper and that of a skeptic. I used all the products that were prescribed to me very faithfully, including the Benefit Clean gentle cleanser (to calm and protect all skin types), Define Retin A lotion, and Opti-Crystal Chirally Correct Eye Serum.
The Benefit Clean is a very gentle cleanser that does not over dry. It purges skin of heavy metals, pollutants and toxins – yes, that goes for your morning cup of coffee too. The Hydrate + is your daily moisturizer that is so seriously rich, creamy yet light as an atom. It’s feather light and incredibly skin enriching and I dare say I’ve finally found a moisturizer with SPF I could be hitched to (wedding bells).
My night time regimen starts with the cleanser, continues with a Lightning Serum that lightens those post acne scars that I call WWF bruises. Nope, they’re called BLACKBERRIES – they’re so dark. Thank God for Lightning Serum.
Then my night time regimen invites the heavy lifter, the Optimus Prime of the entire line, which is a potent Retin A resurfacing treatment called Define. Say what you will about Retin A, it is one ingredient that’s not disappearing from the medical shelves any time soon.
All these treatments worked. Even the skeptic says so. In a few weeks, my skin has felt completely nourished, hydrated, clear and on its way to becoming zit free. I feel as though my skin has taken a trip to the dermatologist, but without the pricey tag.
My Acne St. Bernard is CosMedix. Look – it even makes skeptics happy.

From Grace Gold:
So glad you found something that works!
I also struggled with acne throughout my teen and college years and used to flip out about my skin constantly.
I found a few things made the amazing difference in finally giving me good skin:
-Eliminating dairy from my diet, especially cheese. That damn cheese was the biggest culprit -if only I knew all those years ago!! I only cheat every once in awhile. Any more, and cystic acne spots are happy to come roaring back.
-Not using any products that contain silicones (anything that ends in “icone”) except for dimethicone, which my skin seems to tolerate. Silica is especially bad news.
-Not using any oils on my face aside from non-comedogenic olive oil, which is only in my DHC cleanser that I immediately wash off.
-NOT TOUCHING MY FACE, which includes leaning on my hands while sitting at the computer. Your Mom was right on this one.
-Changing pillow cases regularly so that the oils in my hair don’t transfer to my face.
