About

“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkien

Butterflydiary is a travel resource for the culturally curious, perpetual wanderer who seeks experiences that enrich both mind and soul. A chronicle of colorful travel and tales, the site was started by Charu, who left her career in Investment Banking to pursue her passion. At its core, Butterflydiary is all about transforming one’s outlook and enriching perspective through travel. The site focuses on affordable luxury destinations, local food and arts culture, and the digital community.

Butterflydiary is also committed to addressing the issues of responsible travel and why travel matters. Charu was born in India and has lived in three continents: Africa, Asia and Europe. She’s the kind of person who learns far more from visiting a place than from a book (and frankly, who wouldn’t?). Charu and Matthew met in college while pursuing their other passion–music–and have been travel sweethearts every since. They also travel as a vegetarian/vegan couple, and are always on the hunt for that uber combination of eco & vegetarian friendly destination.
