Everyone is already raving over the seahorse, coral motif themed MAC Cosmetics To the Beach Summer 2010 Collection and it’s just too pretty for me to leave alone.

I’m not going to go into tremendous detail about each product line and prices – I’m sure you’ll see those in ten million other blogs, but what I do want to do is to talk about the general product lines in collage form.

First of all, the To the Beach Summer 2010 collection emphasizes bronzes and corals. Take a look at the poster – it’s completely a different look from say, the Dior Summer 2010 collection (which emphasizes pinks) but not completely Estee Lauder Summer 2010 Bronze Goddess either. It’s a very coral/beige collection with splashes of turquoise and olive gold (the eye liners).

It’s not summer already, is it? It certainly feels like the movie The Day After Tomorrow. But I lit up when I saw images of the MAC Pret a Papier Collection for Summer 2010 floating around on the web so I had to scoop up the deets for my lovely readers.

The inspiration behind this collection is craft paper couture. The idea of making dresses out of paper is not new – but you certainly need the sharp scissors and time for them. The inspiration behind the MAC Pret a Papier Collection is a “funny face” frock and a sort of Project Runway challenge.

The makeup for the MAC Pret a Papier Summer 2010 Collection is basic, beautiful and a cheekful: Lipstick, LipGlass, Eye Shadow, Paint Pot, Chromografic Pencil, Studio Fix Lash, Impeccable Brow Pencil, Sheertone and Mineralize Blushes, and Nail Lacquer in a seamless spectrum of parchment-to-vellum beiges, with an occasional, clever colour spill, coral among the most au courant. I’m digging the names of some of the  LipGlass items: Fold and Tuck Mid-tone bright coral with soft pearl; and Pret-a-Papier Dark reddened bronze with pearl.

If girls just want to have fun and not keep a poker face, then they want to take part in the new MAC Viva Glam gaga-glamorous look that debuts today.

The two glamorous ladies will be spokespeople for the MAC AIDS Fund.

My love affair with lace started early in life. Growing up, my mom who is a talented seamstress, custom made all of my special occasion dresses to my specifications – and each dress had a bit of lace at my request. There was the communion dress with a lace skirt and matching bag. The green satin dress with white polka dots and lace bib (please forgive me for this creation – Laura Ingalls wore a version on Little House on the Prairie except she passed on the polka dots and green satin). And of course, I can’t forget the pink satin dress with the asymmetrical skirt and lace top overlay. Lace played a small part in many of my childhood memories.

I’m not alone in my love of lace – designers throughout time have been fascinated with the intricate fabric and countless beauties have worn lace for their most special occasions. As much as I love lace I don’t get to wear the lovely fabric very often – seeing as I’m not exactly a red carpet regular and all. Now I can be a little closer to lace with the new LOVE LACE collection from MAC. MAC has channeled the universal love of lace into a new collection that celebrates its mysterious and alluring qualities. Here are our favorites from this collection:

Essential oils are precisely termed. They’re essential because they are filled with key plant ingredients and are extracted by distillation. These essential oils can be used alone, under makeup or mixed into makeup so the powders are more emollient.

MAC’s Warm & Cozy collection has two types of essential oils:

I love the faint hint of fragrance, not overpowering like a Hummer on the road, but like a mysterious veil that gives you just a tad and not too much. I played with the essential oils on my face and on my lips and my windburned face felt so comforted after a particularly deep-freeze kind of day.

When I wore these oils my golden retriever started licking my face so uncontrollably that I swore she ingested a substantial vial of this stuff. Note to those with pets…

We broke the news about the winter warming MAC Warm & Cozy collection a few weeks ago, which is filled with treasures designed to eke out the glow and warmth in you.

One of my favorite products in this collection is the Mineralize all-over lotion that is as rich as a pot of hot chocolate. It’s also fragrance free, and full of MAC charged water to boost the delivery of moisturizing ingredients using the vibration of the diamond.

It’s $28.50, and completely worth the price for this lighter-than-skim-milk-foam moisturizer (which can also be used for the face, incidentally). I have visions of bathing in it, like the Annie Leibovitz-style photo of Whoopi Goldberg, and turning it into a frothy milky drink with diamond dust on top that I can secretly sip when it gets to the sub zero temperatures (incidentally, which is like today).

If you’re feeling like a touch of South Florida, with some retro, floral funk, modern pop culture and bright swatches of color — you need a dose of Lilly Pulitzer. When Lilly shacks up with MAC, world watch out. The collection hits all MAC North American shores January 7, 2010.
